Everton Park Swimming pool.

Liverpool City Council announced on 6th Feb 2014 budget cuts which will affect the City’s leisure facilities, Everton Park swimming pool being one of the venues which has been announced it potentially faces complete closure.

The general public have access to this pool 7 days a week and also allows local school children in after school on a free – which gives them exercise and good fun! Every day the public fill the pool and have many regulars attend here on a daily and weekly basis.

More recently there has been an increase in numbers with the school on site – many children from the school attend daily and this is seeing an increased amount of numbers swimming and enjoying the pool.

The site on average takes in over 150,000 visitors per year split between the pool and the sports hall. Why would we want this venue to close? Where will the people and clubs go?

The pool is an 8 lane 25m competition pool, hosting a seated balcony of 400. It is used by general public and many clubs such as, City of Liverpool SC, Total Swimming, Liverpool City Council ‘Swim Liverpool’, Triathletes, John Moors University, Sea Cadets, Schools Swimming Gala’s, the list is goes on……

There are several local and regional gala’s which are held here over the swimming calendar year which brings in swimmers and families from across NW England such as the North West Arena Junior League Final. One of the most famous gala’s this venue host’s on an annual basis is the Echo Cup which is a junior gala ages 9-12 years which is the pinnacle for most swimming clubs across Merseyside and Wirral. The gala has to be one of the most exiting events in the calendar and has been hosted by Everton Park for over 10 years.

Other Galas include City of Liverpool ‘Tadpoles’ and English Schools Galas.

Please sign our online petition here. This will show how much support the public has for this pool – We do not want this pool to close!

Thank you ALL for your support
